Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic/Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic orthodontic and children's dentistry team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the orthodontist and dentist during orthodontic and pediatric dental procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist and pediatric dentist during various procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment for orthodontic and dental procedures. Notate treatment chart with details of patient discussions. Utilize dental software systems such as Ortho2 Edge, OpenDental and Weave for patient communication, management and record keeping. Operate iTero 3D scanners, CT scans/panoramic, and cephalometric x-rays for imaging and treatment planning. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, elastic wear, expander advancement and post-treatment care. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Perform orthodontic and pediatric dental assisting procedure techniques that enhance efficiency during treatments. Perform orthodontic laboratory procedures with 3D printers and vacuum formers to fabricate retainers and aligners. Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling appointments, calling patients and managing patient records. Experience Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant and/or Pediatric Dental Assistant in a similar role is required. Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and HIPAA compliance is essential. Experience with dental software systems, patient communication platforms, and Microsoft Word is a plus. Ability to recognize signs that extra attention to a patient or their parent is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
