This opportunity is for a motivated dental assistant to help us during maternity leave of current assistant. As long a this is a good fit, the position will likely transition to a full time position, even after our current assistant returns. We are looking for that right person that is well-rounded, friendly, and up beat. Someone who gets to know the patients by name and takes pride in their work. Intra-oral scanning and temporary crown fabrication is a must. We are looking for someone who is reliable, on time, and a team player. If you call out often, show up late, or stay on your phone all day, please do not apply. Assistant must be proficient in taking dental radiographs and knowing if the radiograph has been taken well. Treatment planning skills are a plus, and will be needed or learned on the job. Assistant must be Bi-lingual speaking both English and Spanish. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments by preparing instruments and materials. Operate dental X-ray equipment safely and accurately, adhering to radiation safety protocols and infection prevention policies. Manage dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures in compliance with infection control standards to ensure a sterile environment. Take vital signs and medical histories of patients to assist in clinical assessments and treatment planning. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and providing excellent customer service. Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate supplies, ensure clinical cleanliness, and uphold aseptic techniques throughout all procedures. Assist with the operation of advanced imaging technologies such as 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics. Collaborate effectively within a four-handed dentistry setup to enhance efficiency during patient care. Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant within a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting; experience with dental x-ray and medical imaging preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Quick learner to new dental software. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection prevention management, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with healthcare infection control practices including aseptic technique and dental instrument processing. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across various specialties including endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and pediatrics. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and handling medical documentation accurately. Excellent communication skills combined with attention to detail; ability to work effectively within a team environment.
