The ideal candidate is confident working in a surgical environment, provides exceptional patient care, and works well as part of a team. Our dental assistants play an important role in helping patients feel comfortable and ensuring that procedures are performed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Assist the oral surgeon during surgical and dental procedures Prepare treatment rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment Take and develop dental X-rays as permitted by applicable regulations Maintain strict infection-control and sterilization protocols Prepare patients for procedures and provide post-operative instructions Monitor and support patients before, during, and after procedures Assist with IV sedation and/or anesthesia procedures as trained and permitted Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation Stock and organize surgical and dental supplies Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain a safe, organized clinical environment Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and their families Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and practice safety protocols Work closely with the oral surgeon and clinical team to ensure an excellent patient experience Must have the ability to travel to other offices across the Central Florida Willing to be cross trained with front desk responsibilities which will include the following: Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and check in/out efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Oryx Dental, Open Dental Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and rescheduling to optimize clinic flow Collect and process payments, including medical collections and insurance co-pays, accurately documenting transactions in billing systems Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and explain coverage details to patients while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality policies Answer phone calls with professional phone etiquette; schedule appointments and handle patient inquiries promptly and courteously Qualifications Dental assisting experience required; oral surgery experience preferred DA certification/registration as required by state regulations Current CPR/BLS certification Experience with dental X-rays preferred Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Compassionate and professional bedside manner Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to remain calm and attentive in stressful situations What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience End of year Bonuses [Continuing Education Opportunities] Supportive and professional work environment Opportunities for professional growth Why Join Our Practice?
