Job Description
Orthodontic Assistant/Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Our orthodontic practice is seeking to find an Orthodontic Assistant who can serve our family of patients in a friendly and personable manner. The ideal candidate has experience in orthodontics, has critical thinking skills, is a team player and takes initiative. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: Prepare trays, restock stations, maintain dental instruments, supplies and equipment Greet and seat patients Check for loose bands and brackets at every appointment Evaluate patient oral hygiene and cooperation Collect and record patient health issues Take x-rays, impressions & photographs Take impressions for study models/appliances and take bite registrations Place and remove separators Prepare teeth & assist doctors with bonding procedures Fit bands & assist doctors with banding procedures Try-in and assist doctors with delivery of removable & banded appliances Remove and replace arch wires using various types of ligatures Re-cement non-distorted loose bands Chart treatment procedures & appointment information in computer Deliver patient oral hygiene, appliance and/or elastic instructions Encourage, educate and motivate patients to follow doctor's recommendations Monitor oral hygiene and instruct patient/parent when prophy appointment is needed Educate parents and patients on treatment progress This is a part time position Monday-Wednesday. Office Hours are Monday and Wednesday 7:30am-5:30pm, Tuesday 6:30am-1:30pm. Pay is based on experience.
