Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures found in general dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as digital X-ray systems and 3D scanners while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and using patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix Ascend to ensure accurate and secure data entry. Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring all necessary tools are ready for procedures and assisting with dental instrument processing. Monitor vital signs and assist in patient care by providing clear instructions, ensuring comfort, and managing medical documentation throughout appointments. Support the dental reception team by coordinating appointments, managing patient flow, and maintaining excellent communication with patients to enhance their experience. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, infection control protocols, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient data management. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical terminology related to oral health. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards; experience with dental x-ray equipment is preferred. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection control policies. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members like dental receptionists, hygienists, and specialists such as endodontists or prosthodontists.
