Our Work Environment Includes A relaxed atmosphere Growth opportunities Top Duties and Qualifications The Dental Assistant/Trainee Dental Assistant position requires a basic understanding of dentistry. The employee will provide hands‑on support to the dentist, prepare rooms based on the procedure, update patient records, organize dental tools, and assist the dentist throughout each appointment. Dental Assistant/Trainee Duties and Responsibilities Complete lab work as instructed by the dentist Prepare dental rooms according to the type of procedure Sterilize reusable instruments and ensure the dentist has sufficient instruments throughout the day Assist the dentist during procedures and anticipate their needs Use basic dental software to update and upload patient records Take and process patient X‑rays Review patients' medical and dental history, ask about concerns or pain, and communicate relevant information to the dentist Clean and sanitize the dental chair and operatory after each patient Educate patients on maintaining proper oral hygiene What Does a Dental Assistant/Trainee Do? Dental Assistants work in various dental specialties, including general dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, and periodontics. Their primary role is to support the dentist throughout procedures. Responsibilities include educating patients about recommended services, explaining oral hygiene instructions, taking X‑rays, gathering patient concerns, preparing exam areas, assisting with instruments such as suction and mirrors, and monitoring dental supply levels to reorder when necessary. Skills and Qualifications Strong customer service skills to keep patients comfortable and informed Basic technical and troubleshooting skills for dental equipment and computers Organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient workspace Prior experience taking dental X‑rays (preferred) Knowledge of dental procedures and instruments Employee Benefits Paid leave on major holidays Employee discount One week of sick leave/vacation/personal leave Flexible schedule Paid training

Pay:

$16.00 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience and DA license)

Expected Hours:

30-40 per week (Depending doctor's availability)

Schedule:
Monday-Thursday:

7:30 AM to 4:30

PM, Friday:

7:30 AM to 3:00 PM Experience Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification X‑Ray Certification (Preferred) Ability to Relocate Must be able to relocate to Ankeny, IA 50023 before starting work Work Location In person Required to work at both the Ankeny and Des Moines locations

Pay:

$16.00 - $23.00 per hour
