Responsibilities Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and patient positioning with precision and care Manage patient intake, including vital signs, medical history updates, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate diagnostic images while maintaining infection prevention protocols Prepare and sterilize dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure safety and infection control standards are met Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction, and monitoring patient comfort throughout procedures Maintain accurate medical documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, including medical coding and dental terminology for procedural accuracy Support patient management through effective communication, appointment scheduling, and education on post-operative care instructions Requirements Proven experience in dental assisting within an oral surgery or general dentistry setting, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Patient Management Software for scheduling, documentation, and record keeping Knowledge of dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging procedures, and dental sterilization processes Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA) and healthcare infection prevention and control practices Ability to perform dental instrument processing accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques Excellent knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation including 3D scanners and endodontic tools Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training; additional certifications in medical documentation or pediatric dentistry are advantageous Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment Join us in delivering exceptional oral surgery care where your skills make a real difference!
