Lead Dental Assistant
Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays only). Our staff are known for being driven, hard-working, and often work or attend school during the weekdays and pick up shifts with us on the weekends. It is not required to be available both days or even every weekend, though consistency is highly valued. In this pivotal role, you will oversee many aspects of daily clinical operations, support the dental team with chairside assistance, and ensure the highest standards of patient care and infection control. Your leadership will help foster a welcoming environment for patients while maintaining efficient workflow within our modern dental practice. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional dental care. Duties Lead and coordinate dental assisting activities, including four-handed dentistry to optimize patient comfort and treatment efficiency Assist dentists during a variety of procedures such as extractions, restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and emergency dentistry, ensuring proper use of dental instruments and materials Prepare treatment rooms with necessary supplies, sterilize instruments following aseptic techniques, and maintain infection control protocols in accordance with OSHA standards Take high-quality X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Curve Dental or Dentrix to document patient information accurately and efficiently Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, scheduling appointments, taking payments, and updating medical documentation Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist in pediatric dentistry procedures with specialized knowledge of pediatric dental needs Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Proficiency in EMR systems such as Curve Dental or Dentrix Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures Skilled in taking X-rays and medical imaging; knowledge of 3D scanners is advantageous Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical coding related to dental procedures and records management Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and provide outstanding patient care Current CPR certification Join us as a Lead Dental Assistant on the weekends where your expertise will elevate patient experiences while advancing your career in a supportive and energetic environment.
