Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Job Description

The Orthodontic Assistant will report to the Clinical Coordinator. The Orthodontic Assistant delivers an awesome patient experience and is a key part of the change we create in our patient's smiles. Responsibilities Come to work with a positive attitude and share that positive attitude with other staff members, patients, and their families Provide an ultimate patient experience with each patient by engaging with the patient and parent (if applicable) and performing clinical duties effectively within the scheduled appointment time. Improve clinical performance by consistently reviewing clinical processes Maintain a clean, sterile environment. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment and clean each clinical chair/instrument in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelines Be professional and courteous at all times to patients, visitors, and/or co-workers, treating them with dignity and respect at all times - follow the Disney Standards of Customer Service Obtain dental history and/or records from the patient (review patient health history if needed) Ensure to ask if anything in their medical history has changed since last being seen. Educate patients on oral hygiene and appliance care Serve as a key communication link between the patient and the orthodontist Record patient charting and all doctor notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the doctor Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures of patients as appropriate and instruct patients on general oral health care Prepare tray setups for regular appointments Maintain adequate supply levels in each chair, replenishing as needed Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations Maintain confidentiality of Patient Personal Health Information and any other related information according to Practice privacy practices and HIPPA Maintain good attendance and arrive on time ready and prepared to perform job functions daily After-care communication (care calls, recalls, etc.) Perform all opening, closing, and maintenance procedures as well as other duties as delegated by the
Clinical Supervisory Coordinator Employee Safety:
Safely perform all duties; follow required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well as the safety of others Wear long sleeve shirts with scrubs Wear closed-toe shoes Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients, and the community Serve as a backup to the front desk as needed; answer phones and schedule appointments Travel to other office locations to fill in as needed When scheduled for "same day" ensure your schedule is such that if needed you are to work past the scheduled time and complete the bonding of new patients Other duties as assigned by the Dr. or Supervisor What a successful Ortho Tech looks like… Energetic Compassionate Outgoing (not afraid to sing and dance with patients) Empathetic Knowledgeable Willing to learn and be taught
