Job Description

The Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty should have earned a DDS/DMD degree, having a minimum of five (5) years' experience in general dentistry. S/he should be committed to educating and empowering students with a wide range of clinical and academic abilities. The Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty must be eligible for and obtain licensure in the state of Illinois and must be able to obtain an unrestricted DEA license. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, the Clinical Faculty will: Work directly with students in the patient care clinic, supervising all areas of general Interact positively with students, treating all students as future Be competent in treating patients and demonstrating procedures on patients to students in all areas of general Be a positive role model for students in Adhere to CDMI protocols, guidelines, calibrations and policies in the delivery of dental care in the CDMI Dental Be willing to learn and demonstrate competence using current and future technologies in dentistry including rotary endodontics, CAD/CAM dentistry, 3D printing and lasers, following CDMI clinical protocols and Proactively engage and mentor pre-doctoral students in all areas of dentistry, including the activeuse of evidence-based technologies. Be an example of an active life-long learner in dentistry, through learning new techniques, emerging technologies, new materials and treatment protocols as needed by the college. Adopt different teaching techniques and styles to meet the needs of individual Be willing to serve on assigned committees within the college or Interact professionally with all faculty, students, staff and patients, always being respectful and collegial. Be willing to develop and deliver lectures following CDMI protocols, guidelines, calibrations and policies for lecture Be expected to take courses in teaching methods as needed, which should include skills for delivering lectures and developing examinations/ Be competent in the use of the college's patient digital record keeping system and related software. Be timely in completing all notes and codes in patient Evaluate students in a timely manner (daily, quarterly or weekly) as required by the college. Meet with the Associate Dean for Clinical Education for performance Demonstrate collaborative relationships with dental specialists to model exemplary patient- centered care for Be a positive influence on the

The Clinical Faculty position involves being in the dental clinic when students are in session and walking among student operatories without disturbing The Clinical Faculty is expected to actively circulate among the assigned suite operatories during patient care hours to evaluate, provide feedback, remain engaged through patient care, and grade procedures performed by students. Inherent to this Clinical Faculty Assistant Professor position is the ability of the faculty to work chairside to evaluate procedures that are being performed by students. Inherent to this Clinical Faculty Assistant Professor position is the ability of the faculty to sit or stand chairside and demonstrate procedures for students as needed on dental Inherent to this Clinical Faculty Assistant Professor position is the ability of the faculty to communicate, listen and follow along with any communications occurring during students' learning. The Clinical Faculty must be capable of tolerating the lights and noises associated with the dental patient care clinic. The Clinical Faculty must be capable of lifting and /or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and /or moving up to 25 pounds.
