Duties Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations. Perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to uphold clinical hygiene standards. Support patient management by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and providing compassionate patient care throughout their visit. Operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental chairs, and medical imaging devices while ensuring proper maintenance and safety compliance. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and coordinating with the dental receptionist team. Follow clinical confidentiality policies diligently while documenting medical records and ensuring all documentation complies with healthcare infection prevention and control policies. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, dental terminology, and understanding of dental instruments and equipment. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential for managing electronic health records efficiently. Knowledge of infection control practices including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Ability to interpret medical documentation, take X-rays accurately, and operate medical imaging tools confidently. Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with medical terminology used in clinical settings.
