Job Description

Overview A high-volume dental practice in Indiana is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support clinical operations and enhance patient care delivery. This role plays a critical part in assisting dentists during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering an excellent patient experience. Core Responsibilities Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials in accordance with established protocols Perform expanded functions, including placing and condensing amalgam and placing and finishing composite restorations Operate dental radiographic equipment and capture diagnostic-quality images Prepare treatment rooms by following prescribed procedures and infection control protocols Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, draping, and ensuring comfort throughout procedures Assist the dentist chairside by passing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining clear visibility of the operative field Select, mix, and place dental materials as directed during procedures Expose and develop radiographs; pour, trim, and polish study casts to support diagnosis Fabricate temporary restorations and clean and polish removable appliances Provide patient education on oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-operative care Accurately document dental procedures and patient care in records Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive information Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment Monitor and maintain dental equipment, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting Manage inventory of dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely ordering Assist in managing dental and medical emergencies, maintaining CPR certification and emergency readiness Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous learning opportunities Support off-site marketing activities as needed Contribute to overall team success and assist with additional duties as assigned Why This Role Stands Out Opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-performing clinical environment Hands-on role with expanded clinical responsibilities Supportive and collaborative team culture Opportunities for continued learning and professional growth
