Duties Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric treatments. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies. Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies. Communicate effectively with patients in both English and Spanish , explaining procedures, answering questions, and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their visit. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow using patient management software, and handle administrative tasks efficiently. Skills & Qualifications Fluency in both English and Spanish (required). Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines, including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization devices, and other clinical tools. Expertise in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support, to enhance procedural efficiency. Ability to perform dental instrument processing with precision while maintaining compliance with infection prevention standards. Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations to protect patient privacy. Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
