Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Take dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with dental x-ray safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, managing patient comfort, and taking vital signs to monitor health status before treatments. Maintain clinical cleanliness by following aseptic techniques and infection control policies to prevent cross-contamination. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments using patient management software and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is highly valued. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection prevention management. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health. Hands-on experience with dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization tools, and other clinical devices. Ability to operate patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft effectively for scheduling and record keeping. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control policies, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and providing compassionate patient care in a pediatric or general dentistry environment.
