Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures. Assist dentists chairside during various treatments such as fillings, extractions, root canals, prosthodontics, and oral surgeries with precision and professionalism. Take high-quality dental x-rays and utilize medical imaging technology like 3D scanners to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies. Perform vital signs assessments and document medical documentation accurately to support comprehensive patient care. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and answer questions about procedures using clear dental terminology. Follow infection prevention management protocols including dental sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental equipment and clinical procedures is essential. Proficiency with dental assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting enhances workflow efficiency. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology ensures effective communication with team members and patients. Experience with patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft helps streamline appointment scheduling, record keeping, and billing processes. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise is crucial for maintaining compliance with safety standards. Demonstrated ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while adhering to radiation safety guidelines is desirable. Strong organizational skills in medical records management and medical documentation are necessary for maintaining accurate patient histories.
