Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism. Prepare treatment rooms by setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly while maintaining strict aseptic techniques. Take dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), including 3D scans when necessary, following all safety protocols to protect patients and staff. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology, and addressing questions or concerns with empathy. Perform chairside assisting during procedures by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatment. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and adherence to aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Collaborate with the dental team as part of four-handed dentistry practices to improve efficiency and patient outcomes. Requirements Proven experience working in a dental office environment. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following radiation safety standards; certification in radiography preferred. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including vital signs measurement and medical imaging procedures. Knowledge of medical records management, medical coding practices, and HIPAA compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; compassionate approach is essential. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of infection control.
