Job Description
Lakeside Smiles Columbia , a growing general dentistry practice located in Columbia MD, needs an enthusiastic Dental Assistant to join our close-knit team. We serve all demographics of the population, from preschoolers to the elderly, and we operate a busy office. The ideal candidate will have a calm, reassuring and friendly demeanor as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced atmosphere. Our office hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm, Fridays 9am-1pm, and 1 Saturday morning per month, 8am-12pm.

Full-time Responsibilities:
- Disinfect and set up treatment rooms per strict infection control guidelines.
- Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, seating and draping them.
- Instrument sterilization
- Chairside assisting, to include excellent impression taking as needed.
- Exposing intraoral and panoramic x-rays (must be x-ray certified)
- Taking intraoral photos and intraoral 3D scans
- Fabrication of temporary crowns, pouring of models, fabrication of bleaching trays, and other lab-related assignments.
- Excellent patient communication and education, to include answering patient questions, discussing treatments recommended by the doctor, oral hygiene instructions, and post-operative instructions.
- Clinical charting.
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. Qualifications and skills
- Successful completion of a dental assistant licensing program as per state guidelines
- 1+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant
- X-Ray certified
- Comprehensive understanding of dental instruments
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Knowledge of Open Dental and other dental office automation software a plus.
