Job Description

Job Overview Kensington Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and highly organized Dental Assistant to join our growing pediatric dental team with an opportunity to transition to a Fulltime position. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, possesses excellent communication skills, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a friendly and positive environment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Support Prepare treatment rooms for patient care and ensure rooms are fully stocked and organized. Assist the dentist during examinations, preventive care, restorative procedures, emergency treatment, and other dental procedures. Anticipate the dentist's needs and provide instruments and materials efficiently. Perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques. Maintain accurate and timely patient records and charting. Patient Care Welcome patients and families in a warm, professional manner. Help children feel comfortable and reduce dental anxiety through positive communication and behavior guidance techniques. Escort patients to treatment areas and review medical histories. Provide post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education to patients and parents. Reinforce preventive dental care recommendations. Radiography Take high-quality digital radiographs in accordance with state regulations and office protocols. Ensure proper radiation safety procedures are followed. Maintain radiographic equipment and report any concerns promptly. Infection Control and Sterilization Adhere to OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and infection control guidelines. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment according to established protocols. Monitor sterilization logs and maintain compliance records. Ensure operatories are cleaned and prepared between patients. Laboratory and Clinical Equipment Maintain dental instruments, equipment, and supplies. Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies need replenishment. Prepare materials and instruments needed for daily procedures. Assist with laboratory procedures as directed. Administrative Support Assist with scheduling patients when needed. Verify patient information and update records. Communicate effectively with front office staff regarding patient care and treatment needs. Participate in daily huddles and team meetings. Team Responsibilities Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times. Support fellow team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment. Demonstrate flexibility in assisting with office needs and special projects. Represent Kensington Pediatric Dentistry in a professional and courteous manner. Qualifications Maryland Dental Radiation Certification (required). Current CPR certification (required). Prior dental assisting experience preferred. Pediatric dental experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively with children and families. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate dental instruments and equipment. Schedule Full-time or Part-time opportunities available. Amenable to work one to two Saturdays per month as scheduled.
