Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant and Insurance Coordinator to join our vibrant dental team. This role combines the essential responsibilities of providing exceptional chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures with managing patient insurance processes efficiently. The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly organized, and a good communicator. Your expertise will directly contribute to creating confident smiles and a positive patient experience in a patient-first, friendly environment. Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing clinical skills such as four-handed dentistry and aseptic techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, sterilized equipment, and materials following infection prevention management protocols. Take dental x-rays, and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to dental sterilization procedures. Manage patient records accurately within Dolphin Management maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Coordinate insurance claims processing by verifying coverage, explaining benefits to patients, and ensuring timely submission of claims using patient management software. Educate patients on oral health care practices related to orthodontics and general dentistry, including oral surgery and prosthodontics procedures. Handle reception duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and answering inquiries with professionalism and courtesy. Support infection control protocols by practicing proper dental sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of orthodontic procedures, including bracket placement and appliance adjustments. Experience with patient management software is highly preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA standards. Proficiency in taking dental x-rays (including 3D scans), dental sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection control using aseptic techniques. Excellent communication skills to explain treatment plans clearly to patients of all ages; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus. Knowledge of dental equipment operation, medical imaging techniques, and dental instrument processing is essential. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Certification in dental assisting or related healthcare fields; additional training in orthodontics or endodontics is advantageous.
Pay:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 36.0 per week
