Miller Creek Family Dental

Dental Assistant/Receptionist

Job Description

Dental Assistant / Team Lead Now Hiring — New Dental Practice in
Traverse City, MI Location:
Traverse City, MI Schedule:
Monday-Thursday full-time, or part-time hours available
Pay:
$22-$30/hour, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus opportunities
Benefits:
Paid time off (PTO) for full time employees. About the Role We're building a brand-new dental practice in Traverse City, and we're looking for an experienced Dental Assistant who's ready to step into a leadership role. This isn't a "just follow the existing manual" job — because we're starting from scratch, you'll help shape how our office actually runs: our scheduling flow, our patient communication style, our clinical and front-desk systems. If you've ever thought "I could run this better if I were in charge," this is your chance to prove it. You'll split your time between hands-on clinical support and front-desk leadership, working directly alongside the dentist as a true right hand — not just carrying out tasks, but helping build the systems every future hire will follow. What You'll Do? Help build the practice from the ground up We have been open for about two months and now are ready to grow. Take the lead on establishing office protocols for scheduling, patient intake, records management, and daily workflow — systems that will define how this practice operates as we grow. Support patient care Assist chairside during procedures, prepare instruments, take X-rays, and keep clinical supplies stocked and organized. Own the front desk experience Greet patients, manage the schedule, and coordinate patient flow using our EMR system (Curve Dental), all while keeping the office running smoothly and professionally. Manage records and compliance Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant patient records and keep documentation organized and audit-ready. Verify insurance coverage and treatment plans. Be a go-to problem solver Field patient questions, troubleshoot day-to-day issues, and act as a dependable point of contact when the dentist is occupied with patients. What We're Looking For Some experience in a dental or medical office, in one or both clinical and front-desk capacities. Comfort with input of dental insurances and health records (or willing to learn!) A proactive mindset — someone who sees a gap and fixes it rather than waiting to be told Strong communication skills and a warm, professional presence with patients Interest in growing with a new practice and helping define its culture and systems No experience in one area? We'll train you. If you're strong on the clinical side but new to front desk (or vice versa), we're happy to bring you up to speed. We are trying to create a team that is a little different than other offices, one with everyone working together on the same page. We are trying to eliminate the division of front and back office by making it a seamless team. Why Join Us This is a rare opportunity to get in early at a brand-new practice and help build it your way, rather than stepping into someone else's playbook. You'll work closely with the Dr Tom Shoniker as a genuine partner in running the office, with real input into how things are done — and real potential to grow alongside the practice as it expands.
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 - 32.0 per week
