You must have hands on experience assisting in an oral and maxillofacial surgery setting. We are also very interested in candidates that have surgical assisting experience. Michigan OMS in West Bloomfield is looking for an experienced surgical assistant to join our team. We are a friendly, upbeat oral surgery practice looking for someone who loves to work hard. Surgical Dental Assisting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Prepare surgical areas. Complete necessary tasks with central dispensary/sterilization area including receiving, setting up and distributing surgical trays and materials. Take and record patient vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate. Assist the oral surgeons with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures. Pass surgical instruments during procedures. Perform suctioning to keep the patients mouth dry and clear. Monitor vital signs during a procedure. Sterilize instruments. Assure all providers are following proper infection control procedures. Assure proper handling of bio-hazardous materials. Deliver post-operative care instruction. Take dental radiographs including CBCT, Panorex and Pas, Impressions. Prepare prescriptions. Assist in documentation of treatment in patient record and for billing purposes.

Assist in ordering:

stock, distribute, and receive materials, supplies, and disposables.

Required skills:

The ability to take specific direction from the oral surgeon. Works quickly, is organized and detail-oriented. Competent computer skills. Must have good manual dexterity. Must be able to stand during the workday. Experience in a busy multi-provider dental or medical practice is a plus. Salary /
