Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including placing and adjusting braces, appliances, and retainers with precision and care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental X-ray machines while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring all data complies with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal outcomes. Support administrative tasks by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies rigorously while adhering to infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments, equipment operation, and dental sterilization procedures. Familiarity with dental x-ray procedures, medical imaging technologies, and oral surgery support techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups while maintaining high standards of infection prevention management. Excellent understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry and orthodontics to support accurate procedures. Proficiency with patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and healthcare infection control practices to ensure compliance at all times. $18.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 per week
