Job Summary:
Serenity Dental Woodbury is seeking a highly skilled and licensed Dental Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis. This position is designed to provide coverage for an extended maternity leave, ensuring uninterrupted dental services and exceptional patient care. As a licensed Dental Assistant, you will work closely with our dental team to assist in a variety of clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of our dental practice.
Responsibilities:
Chairside Assistance:
Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean, sterilized, and properly stocked with necessary supplies and equipment. Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures, ensuring their comfort and answering any questions they may have. Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating their needs. Perform four-handed dentistry, including suctioning, retraction, and providing dental materials as required. Take and develop dental X-rays as per the dentist's instructions.
Sterilization and Infection Control:
Follow strict sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic dental environment. Clean and sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and surfaces according to established guidelines. Maintain and monitor dental supply inventory, ordering necessary items as needed. Dispose of hazardous waste and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
Patient Care and Education:
Provide excellent patient care by addressing their concerns, explaining procedures, and providing post-treatment instructions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and demonstrate the use of dental appliances (e.g., floss, interdental brushes). Take preliminary impressions and prepare diagnostic casts as directed by the dentist. Assist in the placement and removal of dental dams, matrices, and orthodontic appliances.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment book efficiently. Update and maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Handle billing, insurance claims, and financial transactions accurately and efficiently. Assist in managing and organizing dental supplies and inventory.
Requirements:
Active and valid state dental assisting license. Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program. CPR certification (current). Proven experience as a Dental Assistant. Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology. Proficient in taking dental X-rays. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality. Familiarity with dental software and computer skills. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Note:
This is a temporary position covering for an extended maternity leave. The exact start and end dates will be provided during the hiring process. The pay rate for this position ranges from $32 to $37 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
