Full-time Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Dentist(s), the Dental Assistant will serve various duties that will be assigned accordingly by the Dentist(s). She will assist with various clinical procedures, recognized by Mississippi Dental Practice Act while adhering to the current infection control procedures, "Universal Precautions." The Dental Assistant will also perform back-up duties for the Dental Receptionist and will be assigned responsible for the operations of the Dental Clinical as necessary.
Requirements:
Education Dental Assistant Certificate Dental Radiology Certification CPR Certification Interpersonal Excellent communication skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and other staff members and community Team-player Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment Quick response/accurate data entry to present treatment plans to patients in a short time frame Understanding the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure to the general standards set forth by HIPPPA Duties and Responsibilities [Duties are the following but not limited to]: Chair-side Assisting Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies, and equipment Collecting and recording patient health histories and medical information accurately Patient management during dental procedures Instrument transfer Dental procedure isolation technique Preparation of dental material, cements, composite, impression materials, etc. Dental Charting Prevention and management of dental medical emergencies Inventor control management Taking dental x-rays Taking digital photograph Applying topical fluoride treatments Placing topical medications Dental Infection Control Procedures Managing the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards Instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection, and re-circulation Dental treatment room disinfection Cleaning the dental office daily (i.e. sweeping the office, wiping the mirrors/sinks/countertops, cleaning restrooms, and etc.) Patient Education Delivering patient personal oral care instructions Presenting and reviewing treatment plans with patient Dental Laboratory Procedures Pouring impressions to make stone and plaster models Model trimming Fabricating mouth guards, bleaching trays, temporary crowns, and custom impression trays Fabricating orthodontic retainers and other appliances Sending, tracking, and receiving lab cases; scheduling patients once cases are received
