Job Description
Overview Our office is hiring a temporary dental assistant or sterilization technician to cover a maternity leave. We are a small, close-knit team that focuses on providing high quality dental care, exceptional customer service, and creating a positive work environment. We are willing to train for the right person. Above all we value a good attitude, a desire to help patients, customer service skills, and a willingness to work together as a team. There is the possibility of permanent employment after the contract is up based on performance. In this role, you will support the dentist during patient procedures, ensure smooth clinic operations, and provide compassionate care to every patient. Your expertise in dental procedures, patient management, and infection control will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and cared for. Duties Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care Take and develop dental x-rays while adhering to radiation safety protocols Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system Carestack Collect vital signs and medical history information to support accurate diagnosis and safe treatment Maintain strict infection prevention protocols through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are followed Skills Proficiency with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation Experience with dental x-ray procedures and radiology safety standards Familiarity with EMR systems like Carestack or a willingness to learn Ability to process dental instruments efficiently following sterilization procedures Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and healthcare providers Join us in making a difference by providing top-tier dental care in a supportive environment!
