Dental Assistant - Journey - Ross Hall Greenville, NC Job Details $37,440 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account On-the-job training 403(b) Life insurance Qualifications OSHA (regulatory compliance area) CPR Certification Patient flow optimization Patient monitoring BLS Certification CPR High school diploma or GED Proper waste disposal Dental x-ray Pediatrics Four handed dentistry Dental Assisting Patient charting Patient transport Entry level Patient observation Full Job Description This position is located at the School of Dental Medicine, Ross Hall, Greenville, NC and will support one of the following clinics: Pediatrics, Service-Learning Clinic, Comprehensive Care or Faculty Practice. Assist 4-handed dentistry. The dental assistant is responsible for patient preparation and patient flow. This position accesses patient information, charts as directed by dental students, dental residents and faculty dentist, monitors patients blood pressure and sedation as required. The assistant participates in dental exams and procedures. The assistant follows OSHA standards for hand washing, masking, gloving and disposal of contaminants. The assistant monitors patients as they are receiving treatment. The assistant performs dental x-rays as ordered by the dentist. The assistant transports patients as needed. If no suitable candidates are found at the Dental Assistant-Journey level, this position will be filled as a Dental Assistant-Trainee. Salary for a Dental Assistant Trainee is $37,440. The trainee will be given supervised, on-the-job training by qualified dental professionals in the development of job skills and experience. Upon successful completion of the training, the employee may receive an increase in salary and appointment as a Dental Assistant.
DENTAL MEDICINE SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability. While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS ), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS . These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS . Minimum Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
