Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant and become a vital part of transforming smiles! This position will support our Nashua, NH and Beverly, MA locations, so candidates must be comfortable working at both offices. In this energetic role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety while supporting the orthodontist with a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for every patient, fostering confidence and trust in their journey toward a beautiful smile. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop specialized skills in orthodontics within a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Duties Assist the orthodontist with patient care during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance installations using advanced dental instruments and equipment. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental supplies, and ensuring all equipment—including 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines—is functioning properly in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical records systems such as Dolphin, EagleSoft, or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, medical history, and progress notes. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic care, including the use of dental appliances and retention devices, while demonstrating excellent patient management skills. Support infection control standards by following healthcare infection prevention protocols, sterilizing dental instruments, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with the dental team to streamline patient flow through effective scheduling, reception duties as a dental receptionist when needed, and managing patient inquiries with professionalism. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialization or interest in orthodontics preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Ability and willingness to work at both our Nashua, NH and Beverly, MA locations. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding related to dental procedures. Strong understanding of infection control practices such as sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare standards. Ability to operate patient management software like Dolphin, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft efficiently for scheduling, record keeping, and billing purposes. Excellent communication skills to explain treatment procedures clearly to patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Certification in X-ray technology (including dental x-ray certification) is required; additional training in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques alongside the orthodontist.
