Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring proper radiation safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and patient management software to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and clinical notes. Perform vital signs assessments and document medical documentation to assist in comprehensive patient care. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing dental equipment, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ensure clinical confidentiality policies are strictly followed while maintaining organized medical records and adhering to HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar patient management software. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation to support effective clinical assistance. Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and healthcare infection prevention practices. Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining aseptic technique. Familiarity with dental radiography including X-ray procedures and the use of advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients as a dental receptionist when needed, providing clear instructions and reassurance. Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and the unique needs of young patients to foster a positive experience.
