Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practices located in Edison & Branchburg, NJ. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth daily operations. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix and/or Open Dental is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dental terminology. Experience in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry is a plus. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in assisting with chairside procedures, taking vital signs, managing medical documentation, and supporting the overall patient experience. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection control protocols Take and record vital signs and medical history information for patients Manage patient records using EMR systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards Provide chairside assistance during procedures using aseptic techniques and proper dental assisting procedures Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral health practices Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the front desk team Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims when necessary Support pediatric patients with specialized care techniques as needed Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; familiarity with dental clinic operations preferred Proficiency in EMR systems Dentrix, and/or Open Dental; experience with medical imaging and 3D scanners is advantageous Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques Ability to perform chairside assisting across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics Certification in X-ray operation required Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge of dental terminology and records management is desirable This position offers an engaging work environment where your skills directly contribute to patient health and satisfaction.
