Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management standards. Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside assisting techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when available, while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, updating medical records, recording vital signs, and ensuring accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral health care instructions, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral hygiene practices. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling medical records and ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed at all times. Support the dental team with administrative tasks using patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft to schedule appointments and update patient information. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; some experience or coursework related to dental assisting or healthcare is preferred but not mandatory. Basic knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous. Ability to follow infection prevention protocols meticulously, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals. Willingness to learn clinical procedures such as X-ray taking, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging techniques.
