Job Description

Part-Time Dental Assistant Schedule:
1-2 days per week, with potential for additional days as the practice grows About the Position We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated Dental Assistant to join our growing dental practice. This position will primarily support our general dentistry and hygiene team , including chairside assisting, room turnover, sterilization, digital X-rays, scanning, and helping maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office. The position will initially be approximately 1-2 days per week , with the potential for additional hours or days in the future based on practice growth and scheduling needs. While the primary focus of this role is general dentistry and hygiene , our practice also provides orthodontic care. Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a strong plus, but is not required . We are happy to train the right candidate; however, candidates should be willing and eager to learn orthodontic assisting and occasionally support orthodontic procedures as needed. Our ideal candidate is dependable, organized, comfortable working in a clinical environment, and willing to take initiative. Because we are a growing practice, we especially value someone who is flexible, team-oriented, and willing to help wherever needed to keep the office running smoothly. Responsibilities Primarily support the general dentistry and hygiene teams with daily clinical needs and patient flow Provide chairside assistance during general dental procedures Assist the hygienist with room setup, turnover, X-rays, sterilization, and other clinical support as needed Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before procedures Take digital dental X-rays and assist with digital/3D intraoral scanning Clean, disinfect, and turn over treatment rooms efficiently between patients Follow proper infection control, sterilization, and OSHA protocols Maintain and organize dental instruments, supplies, and clinical areas Assist with sterilization and routine equipment maintenance Review medical histories, obtain necessary information, and prepare patients for treatment Enter and update patient information and clinical documentation in the practice management system Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office Provide patients with appropriate pre- and post-treatment instructions as directed by the doctor Assist with orthodontic procedures when needed; training can be provided for candidates without previous orthodontic experience Assist with occasional front-desk responsibilities when needed, including greeting patients, scheduling, and consent forms Work collaboratively with doctors, hygienists, and other team members to provide an excellent patient experience Help establish and maintain efficient clinical systems as the practice continues to grow Qualifications Previous dental assisting experience preferred Experience supporting general dentistry and/or hygiene preferred Dental X-ray certification/license as required by applicable state regulations preferred Experience with digital X-rays and intraoral/3D scanning is a plus Experience with Dentrix Ascend is a plus, but not required Knowledge of dental infection control and sterilization protocols Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a strong plus, but not required Willingness to learn orthodontic assisting is required Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented Comfortable taking initiative and working as part of a small, growing team Positive and professional attitude with a strong focus on patient care Why Join Us? Pay:
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
