Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including endodontics & prosthodontics, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to dental sterilization procedures. Take high-quality dental x-rays and operate medical imaging equipment while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection prevention management policies. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records and ensuring accurate medical documentation within patient management software such as Dentrix. Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, equipment, and supplies using aseptic technique to promote infection control and clinical confidentiality policies. Support patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout treatments. Maintain dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental x-ray machines, and other clinical tools through routine inspection and proper sterilization techniques. Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to improve efficiency and patient outcomes while adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and taking X-rays (dental x-ray certification preferred). Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation. Ability to maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information with professionalism. Knowledge of infection control practices including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention protocols.
