In this vital role, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient flow, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and sterilization. Your proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry, while maintaining strict adherence to healthcare regulations and confidentiality policies. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments by preparing and passing dental instruments and materials. Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while following all safety protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and infection prevention management standards. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments using dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; document medical histories, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately. Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and providing excellent patient care with compassion and professionalism. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times while ensuring compliance with healthcare infection control standards. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient medical documentation and records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures including four-handed dentistry techniques. Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques to uphold safety standards. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of young patients to foster a comfortable experience. Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with the dental team as a dental receptionist or clinical assistant.
