Ashtabula Dental Associates continues to grow and thrive! Our team is looking to add another experienced Dental Assistant to the family! Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control protocols, and medical documentation to deliver high-quality dental services in a fast-paced environment. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced imaging equipment such as 3D scanners. Record vital signs, medical history, and other patient information accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Manage medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Support with medical imaging procedures and assist with chairside assisting during complex procedures like root canals or crown placements. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices. Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient patient flow and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following infection control protocols. Perform administrative duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries akin to a dental receptionist role. Requirements Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting; familiarity with dental clinic operations is preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical coding and records management is advantageous. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical imaging procedures. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards. Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and team members. Certification or training in chairside assisting; knowledge of four-handed dentistry is desirable. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
