Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment. Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient medical records and documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to assist in comprehensive treatment planning. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-operative care, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal health outcomes. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Requirements Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays (including 3D imaging), and vital signs measurement. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, along with experience using Epic or similar medical documentation platforms. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Ability to perform medical imaging accurately while adhering to safety standards for radiation exposure. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security. Certification in radiography or dental assisting preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
