Position Introduction:
OU College of Dentistry seeks to hire a Dental assistant in our Oral Diagnosis and Radiology Department. This position focuses heavily on taking various dental radiographs. Experience is preferred but the department is willing to provide training to a motivated individual to ensure success in this role.
TITLE:
Assistant, Dental - Oral Diagnosis and Radiology
POSITION INFORMATION
Performs various radiographs as needed in radiology, provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment, and provides administrative assistance.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Chairside assisting and teaching dental students various radiograph techniques. Dental Assistance. Assists dentist using principles of fourhanded dentistry. Assists in the placement of bases and liners, and in the placement and removal of rubber dams. Assists with the insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations. May pour and trim models for diagnostic studies and treatment. Preparation. Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry. Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment. Sterilization. Prepares instruments for sterilization and cleans and sanitizes units after patient treatment. Administrative Assistance. Performs basic administrative office procedures such as scheduling, data entry, filing, copying, seating and dismissing patients, communicating with insurance companies, answering phones, etc. As Needed. Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Required Certifications and Licenses:
Current Oklahoma Dental Assistant Permit or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Current CPR Certification. Hiring Contingent Upon a
