Header Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will perform advanced chairside assisting, manage dental procedures, and support the delivery of exceptional Pediatric dentistry services. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments with precision and confidence. Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary crowns, polishing restorations, and taking dental impressions in compliance with state regulations and practice protocols. Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and digital imaging systems while adhering to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Capture high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging while ensuring patient safety through proper radiation safety procedures. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; document treatment details accurately in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, processing dental instruments efficiently, and maintaining clinical cleanliness following infection control standards. Support patient management by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and ensuring patient comfort throughout visits. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize workflow and deliver efficient care. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times while managing sensitive medical documentation and records securely. Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions within a Pediatric dental practice. Familiarity with EMR Open Dental for efficient patient data management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and infection control protocols including sterilization procedures. Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging tools like 3D scanners, and oral surgery or prosthodontics procedures is highly desirable. Ability to demonstrate excellent patient care skills combined with effective communication in a fast-paced clinical environment. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and aseptic techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff alike. Certification in radiography (dental x-ray license) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
