Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry or assist dental hygienists during recall appointments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols. Take dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards such as HIPAA and infection control policies. Manage patient records using Open Dental software, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy. Support dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of infection prevention management. Collaborate with the dental team using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during clinical procedures. Qualifications Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting roles is highly valued. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical imaging techniques such as X-ray and oral surgery imaging. Knowledge of dental equipment including chairside tools, sterilization devices, and advanced technology like 3D scanners. Experience with patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, record keeping, and billing purposes. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
