Place of Performance:
United States Penitentiary (USP) Lewisburg, PA, in the dental services department.Pay Rate:
$27.78/hourHours:
Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays, normally between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. , with a 30-60 minute unpaid lunch period , as applicable.Requirements:
Must have graduated from an accredited dental assistant school or program . Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety . Must be CPR certified through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association . Must possess a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania radiology certification. Minimum of 1 year of work experience involving dental radiology . Minimum of 18 months of experience as a dental assistant including at least 6 months of current clinical experience .Job Duties:
Provides chair-side dental assistance for operative, prosthetic, endodontic, periodontal, radiology, preventive, and oral surgery procedures . Prepares dental treatment rooms, instruments, materials, anesthetics, and equipment using proper infection-control and sterile techniques. Assists the Dentist during procedures by retracting tissue, maintaining the operative field, irrigating, and evacuating surgical areas . Takes and develops intraoral and extraoral dental radiographs , including bitewings, periapical, and panoramic (Panorex) images. Assists with dental impressions, study models, custom trays, and minor denture repairs . Performs endodontic support, including rubber dam placement, canal irrigation, and preparation of medicaments and instruments . Provides preventive dental care instructions and applies fluoride and desensitizing agents as directed. Performs dental charting and maintains accurate patient records. Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, and maintains dental instruments and equipment. Performs routine clerical duties, including filing, scheduling appointments, inventory management, ordering supplies, answering phones, and preparing documents . Follows all applicable Federal and Pennsylvania regulations, Joint Commission standards, and American Correctional Association standards . Works directly with the Dental Officer and has frequent contact with individuals in confinement .Benefits:
