Job Description

Position Summary Provide quality dental care and associated services to patients with the authorization, assignment, or examination by a dentist. Performs the dental assistant services and procedures permitted by the scope of practice as outlined in Pennsylvania Code. Integrates quality improvement and cost-effective methods of providing care. Participates actively in BCHC's mission to provide exceptional patient-centered primary and preventive healthcare for all residents of Berks County, regardless of economic status. Job Description
  • Seat patient in operatory, ready for dental care
  • Review patient's medical history
  • Help with ordering supplies and inventory
  • Obtain medical clearance if necessary
  • Adheres to current infection control procedures
  • Set up and breakdown rooms between patients
  • Arrives on time for all scheduled shifts
  • Ensures accurate documentation in BCHC electronic patient records
  • Working cooperatively with dental team in all aspects of patient care
  • Assists dentist with all procedures, as directed within scope of practice.
  • Pour models and prepares cases for lab pick up
  • Preparing specialty referrals, records pre-authorization requests
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of dental procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray set up, and dental materials
  • Helps with routine equipment maintenance and recording in manual as assigned.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the mission of the organization in promoting dental health
  • Interacts positively with a diverse, medically complex, and occasionally demanding patient population.
  • Provides service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
