Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) or Dental Assistant to join our family-oriented dental practice. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and oral surgery treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and process dental instruments and materials, ensuring proper sterilization and adherence to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging and 3D scanner technology, while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments and treatment planning. Provide patient management support by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention policies. Assist with dental equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation during clinical procedures. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery is highly desirable. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation practices is essential for accurate record keeping. Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection control protocols, and healthcare infection prevention is required to uphold safety standards. Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred. Strong understanding of dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and dental instrument processing. Ability to work effectively within a team environment supporting general dentistry services while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
