Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics with precision and care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans with clear communication rooted in dental terminology. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control procedures and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards. Support administrative tasks such as patient management software updates and coordinating patient appointments with the dental receptionist team. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure in accordance with local regulations. Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry specialties. Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation efficiently. Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and sterilization procedures essential for maintaining clinical standards. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while following safety guidelines for radiation exposure. Familiarity with dental instrument processing, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to oral structures and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
