$20.80 - $24.90 per hour Position Summary Share your clinical expertise and inspire the next generation of dental professionals! Pima Medical Institute's El Paso campus is seeking a Substitute Dental Assistant Instructor to provide high-quality classroom and lab instruction on an as-needed basis. This role is perfect for a practicing Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist looking to share their hands-on skills with eager adult learners during morning hours (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) without leaving direct practice.
Deliver pre-planned dental assisting lesson plans, lectures, and hands-on lab training (including four-handed/six-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and infection control).
Skills Evaluation:
Grade student assignments, clinical lab competencies, and exams within 72 hours of submission.
Student Mentorship:
Address academic or behavioral concerns proactively, connecting students with campus resources and leadership as needed.
Compliance & Administration:
Record Keeping:
Maintain precise and timely student attendance logs, early alerts, incident reports, and academic records.
Safety Standards:
Enforce strict OSHA, HIPAA, and safety guidelines across classroom, laboratory, and clinical areas.
Faculty Collaboration:
Participate in campus faculty meetings, in-service workshops, and advisory board events when applicable. Minimum Qualifications Education /
Training:
Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR a minimum of three (3) years of related occupational experience if graduating from a non-accredited program.
Clinical Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of practical work experience in dental assisting (or general dentistry). Licensure /
Credentials:
Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist in the State of Texas. Active Texas state credentials/licenses as required by local, state, and federal laws.
Core Competencies:
Demonstrated proficiency in four-handed and/or six-handed dental assisting methods, chairside techniques, and Texas dental regulations.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
