Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging, maintaining accuracy while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage electronic health records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; ensure all documentation complies with clinical confidentiality policies. Perform chairside assisting duties including taking vital signs, medical documentation, and explaining procedures to patients in clear dental terminology. Support dental reception activities by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient inquiries with professionalism. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards consistently. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including pediatric dentistry and oral surgery. Experience with dental x-ray techniques, including dental x-ray equipment operation and radiation safety protocols. Familiarity with infection prevention management practices such as sterilization procedures and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety. Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for improved efficiency during procedures like endodontics or prosthodontics. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards specific to dental clinics; experience with medical coding is a plus. Capable of working effectively in fast-paced environments requiring excellent communication skills as a Dental Assistant or Dental Receptionist in pediatric or general dentistry settings.
