Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, equipment, and supplies according to infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as digital X-ray systems and 3D scanners, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Provide patient management support by explaining procedures, answering questions, taking vital signs, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Process dental instruments through proper sterilization procedures following infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and assisting with billing or insurance documentation as needed. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient medical documentation and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures including dental x-ray techniques and oral surgery assistance. Experience with dental equipment operation including sterilization tools, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and dental handpieces. Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Familiarity with infection prevention management practices such as aseptic technique and healthcare infection control expertise. Excellent communication skills for patient care, explaining treatments clearly while maintaining professionalism in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively support young patients' needs in a friendly manner. Ability to handle medical documentation accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for privacy protection.
