Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant specializing in Pediatrics to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pediatric dentistry, demonstrating excellent patient management skills and clinical expertise. As a Dental Assistant - Pediatrics, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality dental care to young patients, ensuring their comfort and safety while supporting the dental team in delivering efficient and effective treatments. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop specialized skills within a supportive healthcare environment committed to excellence in pediatric oral health. Duties Assist pediatric dentists during various procedures, including oral examinations, cleanings, X-ray imaging, and restorative treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Manage patient flow by greeting young patients and their guardians, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records with accurate medical documentation. Monitor vital signs of pediatric patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort throughout treatment. Maintain clinical cleanliness by following aseptic techniques and infection control policies aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards. Educate patients and guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive dentistry tailored specifically for children. Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring smooth workflow during procedures involving oral surgery or endodontics. Requirements Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a pediatric or general dentistry setting, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry procedures. RDA Certification Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient data efficiently. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatrics, and dental equipment operation including 3D scanners when applicable. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with young patients, parents, and team members while demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training; additional certification in pediatric dentistry is advantageous. Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pediatrics and general dentistry practices is preferred.
