The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specific expertise in orthodontic procedures and patient care. As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, you will support orthodontists in delivering high-quality treatment, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth clinical workflow. Your role will be vital in providing exceptional patient experiences while maintaining strict adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments according to infection prevention management procedures. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take dental x-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, photos, scanning, ensuring accurate positioning and image quality. Manage patient records using Dentrix ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, providing compassionate patient management. Maintain dental equipment, including 3D scanners and other advanced imaging tools, ensuring proper functionality and sterilization. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation efficiently. Adhere to clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and documentation related to pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialized training or experience in orthodontics preferred. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection control protocols. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Familiarity with Dentrix for managing patient information securely. Experience with dental x-ray procedures and radiographic equipment operation. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their treatment plans.
