Job Description
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our growing team! The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, teens, and adults and is comfortable working in a fast-paced orthodontic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the orthodontist during patient appointments and procedures.
- Prepare and set up treatment rooms and instruments.
- Take and develop/process dental X-rays as permitted by applicable regulations.
- Assist with orthodontic procedures, including bonding, adjustments, wire changes, impressions/scans, and retainer delivery.
- Take intraoral photographs and digital scans.
- Provide patients with clear instructions regarding orthodontic appliances and oral hygiene.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and treatment areas according to OSHA and office protocols.
- Help with patient flow and keep appointments running efficiently.
- Communicate professionally and warmly with patients and parents.
- Assist with inventory, stocking, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical area.
- Follow all infection-control, safety, and office policies Qualifications.
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred; orthodontic experience is a plus.
- Dental assisting certification/credentials as required by state regulations.
- X-ray certification/permit as required by state regulations.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable working with children and families.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy office.
