+ Wellness is seeking candidates for a part-time Dental Assistant for our Dental Clinics. Most work will be performed at our Martinsville, dental clinic with the possibility of occasionally working from our Bassett or and Patrick Springs, dental clinics. Connect Health

+ Wellness is committed to providing primary health and integrated behavioral health services at our Federally Qualified Health Centers and Dental sites by promoting health, reducing health risk factors and increasing access to medical and dental services, primarily for the uninsured and underserved within our service area. Additionally, we offer chronic disease self-management, medication assistance, and care coordination services. Position Summary The Dental Assistant performs various activities for a fast-paced Dental Clinic including assisting the dentist as well as dental and dental hygiene students in the direct provision of dental services to patients of the dental clinic. The Dental Assistant is responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies, and taking needed x-rays. Essential Functions of the position 1. Assist?s patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions, and giving directions to patients as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist. 2. Serves as dentist?s or dental hygienist?s chair-side assistant. 3. Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Clinic protocols and the dentist?s or dental hygienist?s directions. 4. Exposes and develops dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Clinic directive and protocol. 5. Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulation and law and Dental Clinic directive and protocol. 6. Maintains Dental Clinic equipment in accordance with manufacturer?s directions and Dental Clinic policy and protocol. 7. Maintains all Dental Clinic areas in compliance with Dental Clinic directives and protocols as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues. 8. Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes. 9. Accesses patient charts through EMR, as required to enter needed information. 10. Responds to and places necessary telephone calls as need for the Dental Clinic. 11. Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the center as appropriate and time permits. 12. Insures the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment in accordance with Dental Clinic directive and protocol. 13. Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Dental Clinic directive, center policy as well as state and federal regulation(s). 14. Performs all functions in full compliance with the clinics and the Dental Clinic Exposure Control Plan including but not limited to the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions. 15. Participates in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required which may also include our mobile dental clinic. 16. Travels when necessary to meet operational needs. 17. As directed by Dental Practice Manager performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and program goals and objectives. 18. Responsible for full personal compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures including but not limited to the participation of a Dental Assistant in the provision of clinical dental care, as well as those relating to, but not limited to personnel issues, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality. 19. Other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by your supervisor that are consistent with the Mission of the organization and intent of this position.
