Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and support our orthodontic specialists. In this vital role, you will assist with orthodontic procedures, manage patient interactions, and ensure the smooth operation of our clinic. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages seeking orthodontic treatment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, supportive setting dedicated to excellence in dental health. Hours Tuesdays (half day or full day), Wednesdays (half day or full day), and one to two saturday mornings per month. Duties Prepare treatment areas and sterilize dental instruments following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using chairside assisting techniques. Take dental x-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic care, including appliance maintenance and dietary restrictions. Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and providing excellent customer service in reception when needed. Requirements 1+ year of experience as an orthodontic or dental assistant is a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and dental sterilization procedures is preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly to patients of all ages. Ability to adhere strictly to clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection prevention protocols.
